Sleep Country’s Pajama Drive for Foster Kids

“Recycled Cinema” by Jess Flegel and Kaveh Askari
6 p.m. Make.Shift, 306 Flora St. Films connect people to places not only through the landscapes they show but also through the ways they are collected, circulated around the world, and creatively reused. The project dismantles a film made of old media about a place, on the opposite corner of the continent, which will eventually return to the sea. The artist’s proceeds will benefit a scholarship for Film Studies students at Western Washington University established via the WWU Foundation. Sunrise Rotary Annual Oysterfest

The show is designed to promote new art, give performers a venue to try out new material, inspire creativity, encourage new performers, and enhance growth in artists and performers. Features range from dance and aerial performance to comedy, magic, improv and music. There is no pre-screening of acts and no run-through, but acts that are hurtful or discriminatory in nature are discouraged. Many people bring their kids, especially to the early show. Bellingham’s Annual Lumber & Lace Ball

The organizers behind the event are a group of young community members who believe the assistance provided by Hospice is invaluable and poorly understood by Whatcom County’s younger generation. This is a semi-formal Victorian logging-era themed event. Entertainment will include live music by The Tallboys Country Band, Rattletrap Ruckus and DJ Knuckles, as well as dance instruction, appetizers, old-fashioned photos, old-time hairdos by Toni and Guy Academy and a silent auction full of goodies.
