Most businesses and services in Whatcom County — including all major grocery stores — are closed Christmas Day, but a few places will be open for coffee, drinks, food or entertainment.
For people traveling, most gas stations with automated pumps will be open, but those requiring a clerk likely will be closed. Whatcom Transportation Authority buses do not run on Christmas.
Here are businesses that responded to a solicit for places open at least part of Thursday, Dec. 25. All are in Bellingham, unless otherwise noted. For other places, call ahead to check status.
FOOD AND BEVERAGE
The Green Frog, 1015 N. State St., open with annual special Christmas show by Ron Hardesty at 8 p.m.
Greene’s Corner, 5305 Northwest Drive, will be open and in full operation from 8 a.m. until at least 4 p.m., longer if there is demand.
I Wana Moka, 3100 Old Fairhaven Parkway, open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
IHOP, 420 W. Bakerview Road, will be open 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
India Grill, 1215 Cornwall Ave., open noon to 2 p.m. and 5 to 7:30 p.m.
Lighthouse Bar & Grill at Hotel Bellwether, One Bellwether Way, has a holiday buffet from noon to 7 p.m.
Shots to Go Espresso, 119 E. Smith Road, open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Silver Reef Hotel Casino Spa, 4876 Haxton Way near Ferndale, will have all 10 restaurants open on Christmas.
Uisce Irish Pub, 1319 Commercial St., open 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.
The Waterfront Seafood & Bar, 521 W. Holly St., open 8 a.m. to 2 a.m.
Silver Reef Hotel Casino Spa, 4876 Haxton Way near Ferndale, open 24 hours.
Walgreens stores open; 24-hour stores have same hours while other stores open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Pharmacy availability varies by location, so call ahead.

Sanitary Service Co. and Nooksack Valley Disposal will do regular trash pickup on Christmas, but truck might be earlier than normal.
Recycling & Disposal Services, 4916 LaBounty Drive, Ferndale, open 7:30 a.m. to noon.
