Donation Drive for Veterans Assistance Dogs
9 a.m., Mattress Discounters, 1315 Bakerview Road; by donation. Veterans dogs assist active and retired military members who have sustained injuries, such as head wounds, hearing loss and amputations. The highly skilled dogs are trained to perform everyday tasks that can help a veteran regain independence and put his or her life together, helping with such tasks as opening doors, turning on lights and alerting them to alarms. Halloween Candy Buy Back Program
3 p.m., Faith Bult Dentistry, 405 32nd St., Suite 100; free; 360-715-3333. Trick-or-treaters can bring their excess candy to the office of Bellingham dentist Dr. Faith Bult from 3 to 5 p.m. and receive $1 per pound, as well as other free goodies. The candy is sent to troops overseas, along with other items donated by local companies.
Lynden Friends book and Bake Sale

Haitian Metal Art
6-10 p.m.,The Lucky Monkey, 312 W. Champion St., presents a variety of new Haitian metal art wall hangings for its November art show. The opening Friday night, 6-10 p.m. Nov. 7 during the Art Walk will also be a benefit for the Haitian artists and their families. An extra portion of any of the art sold that night will go to The Help Haiti Fund sponsored by at Beyond Borders who work directly with the recycled steel drum artists. 360-393-4068.
