Bellingham native Raymond A. Hall grew cooking and baking at Hall’s Bakery, his father’s popular Fountain District eatery well-known for its selection of doughnuts.
Hall graduated from Bellingham High School in 1960 and served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1967, including a stint as, naturally, a cook and baker in Gelnhausen, Germany, near Frankfurt.
After his time in the service Hall worked at the Tilbury cement plant on Marine Drive, retiring about 10 years ago. He now works part-time baking at Bellingham Flatbread & Bakery.
Hall turns 72 on Tuesday, Nov. 11, Veterans Day.
