A community walk to raise awareness and money for suicide prevention is set for 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, at Lake Padden Park.
The Out of the Darkness walk supports the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and is one out of more than 360 such events being held nationwide.
According to AFSP, close to 700,000 people will make a suicide attempt requiring medical care and more than 38,000 will die by suicide in the U.S. every year.
Check in for the walk is at 9 a.m. It begins by the covered shelter near the dog park and goes the 2.6-mile loop around the lake. To register, donate or learn more, go to afsp.org.
