BELLINGHAM - The Bellingham School District's Board of Directors appointed its newest member Monday, July 28.
Douglas Benjamin will fill the spot left vacant by Scott Stockburger, who resigned for health reasons in June.
Benjamin was one of four finalists interviewed for the position during an open meeting Monday evening. He has worked as a license mental health counselor in Bellingham for 30 years and has five children who are or have been students in the district.
Benjamin will be sworn in and seated during the next board meeting Aug. 21, and he'll serve until the next board election in November 2015.
