BELLINGHAM - Four finalists have been selected to fill an open position on the Bellingham School Board.
The position is vacant after Scott Stockburger resigned in June for health reasons.
The finalists will be interviewed starting at 6 p.m. during the board's July 28 meeting in the board room at the District Office, 1306 Dupont St. The board could appoint one of the finalists to the position after the interviews are complete.
The person appointed to the seat will serve until the next board election in November 2015.
The four finalists are:
-- Douglas Benjamin, who has worked as a licensed mental health counselor in Bellingham for 30 years and is a father of five children who are or have been students in the district.
-- Amy Cloud, the communications specialist for PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center. She was a graduate of Bellingham Public Schools and has a child in high school in the district.
-- Mark Peterson, a sustainable business manager whose wife works as a teacher in the district and whose three children are students in the district.
-- Jessica Sankey, a health and early education nonprofit consultant who works with Whatcom Early Learning Alliance. Two of her three children are students in the district.
