MAPLE FALLS - A fire that started in a recreational vehicle and leapt to a nearby mobile home early Thursday, July 17, has left two Maple Falls residents without a home for now.
Whatcom County Fire District 14 firefighters arrived at 6361 Blackfoot Place around 5 a.m. and were able to extinguish the blaze, containing it to one room of the double-wide mobile home.
No one was injured. The RV was destroyed, and the mobile home sustained an estimated $50,000 in damages, according to Fire Chief Jerry DeBruin.
The two residents are being assisted by the American Red Cross. The fire's cause is being investigated by the Whatcom County fire marshal.
The address where the fire happened was corrected July 21, 2014.
