A new mobile app has been released by the Washington state Department of Fish and Wildlife to make figuring out fishing regulations more convenient.
The free “Fish Washington” app is available on Google Play, the Apple App Store, and the Fish and Wildlife website.
It has up-to-date fishing regulations for every lake, river and stream in the state. However, information on shellfish and seaweed collection rules has yet to be added.
Anglers can now check their smart phones in the field to see:
▪ Map-based rules to help anglers find fishing nearby.
▪ Details on limits and allowable gear for species in each body of water.
▪ Locations of boat launches and other fishing access points.
▪ Links to instructional videos.
The app includes downloadable updates and offline capacity for areas without cell service.
The Fish and Wildlife Department also is developing a mobile hunting app.
