OVERVIEW
Nooksack is a quiet community of just over 1,000 people situated next to Everson. The towns are so close that they put on a joint summer festival every July.
Nooksack is close to the Canadian border and close to outdoor attractions, including Silver Lake Park, with its fishing, camping and canoeing just 20 minutes to the east.
Nooksack prospered early when families settled for logging and mining jobs. Today, Nooksack remains a family-oriented bedroom community with its small-town atmosphere and its elementary and middle school.
HISTORY
Platted in 1885, Nooksack grew to 415 people within five years, but a major fire in 1906, several later fires, and a decline in area slowed future growth.

QUOTE
“People driving through on Highway 9 might think it’s just a wide spot in the road, but if you actually stopped here you’d find out we’re a very friendly community. People are always kind and courteous giving directions at the major intersections.”
Tom Jones, Nooksack resident for more than 50 years
