Columbia neighborhood is a quiet, mostly residential haven stretching from the bluff above Bellingham Bay to Squalicum Creek on the north.
The older, tree-lined streets near the bay feature turn-of-the-century homes. Members of Eldridge Historical Society host annual tours of the historic homes, in part to raise money for summer concerts at nearby Elizabeth Park.

The northern part of the neighborhood has wider streets and newer developments, mostly from the mid-1900s.
Columbia Elementary School sits in the middle of the neighborhood, serving the family-friendly community.
HISTORY
The original Columbia School was built in 1890. In 1908, an addition was built and the school’s spire was removed.
A second building was built adjacent to it in 1925, which is the main elementary school building today at 2508 Utter St. The original structure was razed in 1936.
