Sophomore Kellan Brown scored his 10th goal of the season, but the Western Washington men's soccer team gave up a late goal in tying the University of Mary ND 1-1 in an overtime on Monday, Nov. 2, at Montana State Billings University.

The Vikings moved to 7-11-1 on the year, with Monday's contest the last of eight straight road games.

Brown gave Western an early 1-0 lead, dribbling by two defenders to finish from about 10 yards out in the game's eighth minute. Tyler Bjork was credited with an assists, his fourth on the season.

But the Vikings faltered with just five seconds left in regulation, allowing a corner kick goal.

Neither team scored in overtime.

"It was a disappointing result, but it was nice to finish it (road stretch) going three games without a loss," said Western coach Travis Connell, whose team had a 25-8 advantage in shots. "We're looking forward to playing at home on Thursday."

"They (Mary) made good plays when they needed to, including a number of great defensive saves. You have to give them credit, they wouldn't go away easily."

The Vikings entertain league champion Saint Martin's University in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Orca Field on the campus of Whatcom Community College.
