Rachel Rexroat emerged to score two goals and lead the Whatcom Community College over Clark Community College 4-0 in college soccer action on Saturday, Sept. 26.
The WCC men (1-2-1) didn't fare so well, losing 2-0 to Clark in a game that played closer than the score indicated.
Orcas coach Josh Turpen said the men were stunned in the 50th minute when a Clark player crushed a shot from 25 yards out. Goalkeeper John MacArther finished with 10 saves on the day, but could only manage to get a piece of the game's first goal.
The second goal was scored in the 90th minute as WCC pressed forward trying to tie the game late.
The Orcas' women (3-1) got their first score on an own-goal in the tenth minute. Five minutes later, Rexroat stuffed her first goal in the net to give WCC a 2-0 first half lead.
Tasha Parris scored in the game's 70th minute on an assist from Jessica Jenson and Rexroat scored her second goal unassisted about 10 minutes later.
"We scored some really good goals," Turpen said. "We've been waiting for Rachel to bust out ... She had a great game today."
