OLD-FASHIONED APPLESAUCE RAISIN CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
3/4 cup margarine

1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
21/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup raisins (add water to soften if needed)
1/2 cup chocolate chips (or replace with 1/2 cup chopped walnuts)
Cream together margarine and brown sugar.
Add applesauce and egg, mixing until smooth.
In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and cloves; stir into applesauce mixture.
Add raisins and chocolate chips (or walnuts).
Drop by rounded teaspoon onto ungreased baking sheet.
Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
Ice with a vanilla glaze frosting when partially cooled.
Makes 2 dozen.
