Several area museums are celebrating the holiday season with festive decorations to compliment their regular exhibits.
• At Whatcom Museum, the “Deck the (Old City) Hall” festivities kick off with two floors of decorated trees that visitors can enter to win, a pop-up museum store, and more, from noon to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, and continuing Thursdays-Sundays through Dec. 28.
Special programs include a visit with Santa from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 29-30, and “Sing Along with Miss Joanne” from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturdays. Old City Hall is at 121 Prospect St., with regular admission reduced to only a suggested donation for the Old City Hall galleries during the holiday event. • At Lynden Pioneer Museum, the pioneer homestead display and Front Street exhibits will be adorned with period decorations to mark the Christmas season at217 Front St., Lynden
. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Admission is $7 for adults, $4 for seniors and students, and free for children 6 and younger. The museum features a life-size representation of historic downtown Lynden with storefront dioramas, exhibits about early settlers, military exhibits, and a collection of vintage automobiles and farm implements. • Skagit County Historical Museum returns with its popular “Skagit Christmas” exhibit from Friday, Nov. 28, to Wednesday, Dec. 31, in its North Wing gallery with displays, collections and exhibits that chronicle early life in Western Washington. The museum’s annual Holiday Craft Sale is Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 29-30, and its Christmas is for Kids activities and cookie decorating is Sunday, Dec. 7.
Skagit County Historical Museum is at 501 S. 4th St., La Conner. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults and teens, $10 for families, $4 for ages 6-12 and for 65 and older, and free for museum members and children 5 and younger.
