Thought Mount Baker was erupting

From a second-story window of our Eldridge-area home, I saw the plume rising in the east.
My first thought was that Mount Baker had erupted.
I had never seen anything so ominous in my life. I immediately knew this was serious.
I was a high school freshman at the time.
