A lot of readers are trying to explain why gasoline is so expensive. While I can’t explain it, I am surprised that no one has brought up all the coincidences, which seem to suggest an explanation.
President Bush and Vice President Cheney are both former oil company executives. Early in this administration, Bush delegated to Cheney the task of formulating a national energy policy.
Cheney met with oil industry executives. The administration has successfully resisted every effort to make public what was said in those meetings.
Now gasoline is triple the price that it was when Bush became president. And the oil companies are making phenomenal profits, greater than ever before in history. And by the way, Bush is continuing to fill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve with expensive oil.
Are these all just coincidences?
