Speed limit decrease would help gas prices

In this age of staggering gasoline costs, we should encourage our duly elected representatives to consider a reduction in the speed limits on our highways.

If we reduced the speed limit to 55 mph on highways it would result in a tremendous savings in gasoline and oil consumption.

A side effect would be a reduction in accidents and fatalities, injuries and hopefully insurance premiums.

It is another small step we could adjust to, to help ourselves get through the oil crunch. We might even enjoy seeing more of the beautiful scenery in Washington as we drive a bit slower.
