Wants laws forbidding pets at lakes, parks

Feeling the heat, I decided to go to Bloedel- Donovan park’s boat launch and watch all the boats being put in the lake.

I was absolutely surprised how many dogs and cats were everywhere — in boats, out on the lawn and a lot of them running loose and ruining people’s picnics.

After stepping in what these animals produced, well, I was not happy.

I would like to see something done by the city of Bellingham or whomever runs all the lakes and parks, both local and state, so that no animals are allowed in the water or are present in the parks or on our beautiful trails.

There is a place and time for pets and a lot of people feel it is not appropriate for them to be in areas where people are enjoying what this beautiful county has to offer.

I would like to see a park made for animals only that could be where other animal owners could congregate.

I do like animals, but they do not belong in any park or the water source.

Owners, please keep your pets out of people’s picnics and please pick up their excrement.
