I'm one of many women who urged Michael Lilliquist to run for Bellingham City Council, because I know he will work on vital issues we all care about.

Citizen participation: Michael believes in honoring the principles of the City Charter: "to establish a government more responsive to the people, more efficient in its operations and more open to that essential ingredient, the concerned participation of citizens."

Healthy neighborhoods and businesses: Michael researched and created an excellent neighborhood survey, which invited all residents and business enterprises to shape the future of their neighborhood. As neighborhood association members, we collaborated to stop an illegal shoreline permit that would have limited public access, and degraded fish and wildlife habitat.

Lake Whatcom and economic well-being: A member of the city's Watershed Advisory Board, Michael understands that restoration of the lake and protection of our drinking water is a requirement for continued economic well-being.

Family first: As dedicated parents, engaged in life's most important challenge, Michael and his physician wife, Barbara, live their values as they prepare their sweet young daughter for life.

We're truly fortunate to have Michael Lilliquist, a citizen of integrity, vitality, and thoughtful creativity, offer to represent us.
