Supports Blethen for port commission

I support John Blethen for Port Commissioner from district No. 1.

Blethen has been active in the community for more than 30 years, including involvement with the waterfront redevelopment process from the beginning. He served on the Waterfront Futures Group and the Waterfront Advisory Group and his plan for waterfront redevelopment (now adopted by the city as framework and master plan) was created on his own dime.

That's right: He hired an architect, created a plan on his own time and submitted it to the city. Why? Because he cares so deeply about a quality redevelopment and saw little evidence that a satisfactory outcome was likely based on the port's vision for a "Bellevue on the Bay."

It's not every day that someone like John Blethen runs for office. He has my vote. He deserves yours.
