Now that Ellen Murphy has successfully coaxed more than $10,000 from the city budget to pay for her "emotional distress" resulting from city officials standing up to her boorish behavior, I hope she feels better - even though that $10,000 could have purchased more than 100 books for the city library, 5,000 lunches for needy students or paid for overhauling a local playground.
In fact, I hope she feels so much better that she'll consider using the money to take a vacation outside the city.
In tough economic times, I'm not sure productive, hard-working taxpayers can afford to pay for any more of her protests.
