For too long I believe, the commissioners of the Port of Bellingham have disregarded public input and public process. As a result, I believe they have failed to galvanize public support or to create the cooperative political alliances needed to move forward with the redevelopment of the Bellingham waterfront. It's time for a change.

I support John Blethen for the District 1 seat presently occupied by Scott Walker. John is a successful small businessman and a dedicated public citizen with a long record of working for the best interests of our entire community. He has been a leading force in the Greenways program and played an active role in the Waterfront Futures Group, a multi-agency effort which generated the best blueprint to date for the redevelopment of the waterfront. Currently he serves on the Waterfront Advisory Group.

John understands the issues facing the port, and he has both the stature and the temperament needed to move this project forward. I encourage you to vote for John Blethen.
