The new Art and Children's Museum is opening soon and our local culturistas are justifiably proud of themselves. They have enhanced their personal prestige at mostly taxpayer's expense creating an incredibly expensive temple to cultural elitism. And they plan to charge the public admission to share the experience with them.
Meanwhile, less than a block away, our local library - which is used by thousands of more people than that "museum" ever will be - is bulging at the seams in a 50-year-old building.
I would love to hear all the details of the convoluted, complex interactions that took place between all the entities that made this happen.
I believe, once again, that the enlightened self-interest of a few triumphed again over the greater good for a greater number of people.
