I have recently cast a "no" vote on Initiative 1033; for several reasons.
Foremost of my reasons is that I believe I-1033 is fundamentally unfair. I-1033 bestows any tax-spoils exclusively to property owners, while the inevitable program and service cuts due to loss of general fund revenue would be borne by everyone.
In other words, people who are not fortunate enough to be real estate property-owners can expect further cuts to public services and no monetary reward.
Who are the non-property owners among us? People living in senior or subsidized housing, or renting because they are not financially situated to own real estate property. These are the very people who depend on the public services that passage of I-1033 threatens.
Join me in rejecting I-1033.
