This year's County Council election comes at a pivotal time for Whatcom County. We are at a turning point, where decisions will be made in the next few years that will shape the future of this county for generations to come.

In particular, the cities throughout Whatcom County will be impacted, right down to the unique character of each local community.

As the mayors of all six smaller cities, we are proud and honored to serve our communities. We know first-hand how important it is for the County Council to reflect the concerns, the history and the values of all the people of Whatcom County. We are frustrated with the lack of meaningful dialogue we have with many of the current elected County Council members. It is time for new Council members who will truly represent the people and the spirit of this great county.

That is why, at this critical point in our history, we have united in our support for Kathy Kershner, Mary Beth Teigrob, Michelle Luke and Bill Knutzen for Whatcom County Council. We urge all Whatcom County voters to join us in electing these fine representatives to office.

Jack Louws, Lynden

Bob Bromley, Sumas

Jim Ackerman, Nooksack

Bonnie Onyon, Blaine

Gary Jensen, Ferndale
