A 20-year-old Maple Falls man used an airsoft-style gun in an attempt to rob a woman living in the Kendall area, according to the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office.
The attempted robbery occurred at about 10 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, in the 8300 block of Holly Lane. The man, wearing a mask and a hooded jacket, knocked on the woman's door, pointed the gun at her face and demanded prescription drugs he believed were inside the home, said Sgt. Scott Huso.
The man tried to force his way inside but was unsuccessful, Huso said. The man fled, and a neighbor and a relative of the woman chased after him. The man removed his mask during the pursuit and was recognized by the woman's relative, Huso said.
The suspect was caught by sheriff's deputies as he tried to leave the area in a vehicle, Huso said.
Aaron T. Olson was booked into Whatcom County Jail on suspicion of first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary.
