LUMMI ISLAND — Two people were injured in an early morning crash Sunday, May 24, on Lummi Island, according to Washington State Patrol.
About 4:30 a.m., a driver heading south on Legoe Bay Road lost control of his 2002 Ford F-150 truck going around a corner. The truck, with four island residents inside, landed in a ditch about a mile from the ferry terminal and was destroyed. No one was wearing a seat belt, and two occupants were injured, according to WSP.
The driver, Roger C. Jones, 62, was taken to St. Joseph Hospital with minor injuries along with passenger Christopher L. Rains, 21, who was treated and released. The two other passengers were Ty Bolack, age unavailable, and James L. Gasson, 28.
WSP troopers list alcohol and speed as probable causes for the crash, and charges were pending.
