BELLINGHAM - A cougar was spotted near Lake Padden on Sunday, Sept. 21, around 8:45 a.m. according to a Bellingham Police Department press release.
A resident saw the cougar as it walked through a back yard near 48th and Willis Streets, north of the lake.
The cat was described as about thigh high with white markings around its legs.
Bellingham police were patrolling the Lake Padden area in case the cougar turns up again and to warn the public of its presence.
People should not approach the cougar if they see it and keep a close eye on children and pets in the area.
