You'll be able to celebrate March's departure and the arrival of spring with a seafood repast of ocean-caught lingcod and maybe razor clams, too.
Marine areas 1, 2 and 3 are among the first of saltwater venues to ring in the 2009 sport seasons leading off in mid-March with 'fangers' as the toothsome bottomfish are called. Note that the fourth coastal zone centering on Neah Bay remains closed for lingcod until Thursday, April 16.
Lings open Friday, May 1, in Washington's inland waters.
Barring an improbable spike in marine toxin levels, the first of the spring morning razor clam digs is set to start Friday, March 27, for three days on the sands of Mocrocks and Twin Harbors beach sectors.
Saturday, March 28, and Sunday, March 29, Copalis and Long Beach join the list of beaches available for razor digging.
