Every bit of this trail is scenic: from the trailhead below Granite Mountain, to the where the campsites face the glacier on Ruth Mountain, to the panoramic views atop Hannegan Peak. The trail to Hannegan Pass is long but gradual — and popular for riders on horseback in the summer. Turn left at the pass to climb the remaining steep mile to the summit.
