Squalicum running back Brad Miller has been voted the Football Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Aaron Dickson of Rice Insurance, in an online poll.
Miller received 52.3 percent (346 votes) of the 661 votes cast at TheBellinghamHerald.com/sports, beating out Nooksack Valley's Anthony Reese and Ferndale's Brandon Maarhuis.
Miller helped the Storm to a 35-27 victory over Bellingham on Friday, Oct. 23, by rushing for 117 yards and two touchdowns. His TD runs included a 60-yarder in the fourth quarter and an unforgettable 36-yard run in the third on which at least five Red Raider tacklers had a chance to bring him down.
"He put on his Superman cape and did his best (former Squalicum running back) Chad Clark impersonation on that run," Squalicum coach Reed Richardson said of the run. "Just unbelievable. I'm glad he's on our team, that's for sure."
After hosting Mount Baker on Thursday, Oct. 29, Squalicum will next play in the Class 2A Northwest District playoffs next week.
