SEDRO-WOOLLEY - Clayton Johnson rushed for 105 yards and helped Sedro-Woolley defeat Mount Vernon 10-7 on Friday, Oct. 23, in Northwest Conference Class 3A action.
The win improved the Cubs to 4-4, 3-3, 1-1 NWC while the Bulldogs dropped to 5-3, 3-2, 0-1.
Johnson opened the scoring with a 41-yard score in the second quarter and the Cubs' only touchdown of the game. The Bulldogs tied the game at 7-7 later in the quarter when Joe Barrington caught a 45-yard touchdown pass from Jake Weber-Koetje.
Sedro-Woolley took a 10-7 lead before halftime when Joe Janicki kicked a 32-yard field goal.
Janicki's field goal proved to be the difference in the game as neither team scored in the second half.
Johnson eclipsed the 100-yard barrier on just nine carries.
Weber-Koetje was 11 for 24 passing for 104 yards and two interceptions.
