After making it through Northwest Conference boys' tennis regular season with relatively few weather-related schedule changes, the Class 2A Northwest District Boys' Tennis Tournament suffered its third postponement in a week on Friday, Oct. 23.

The final four matches of the tournament will now be played at noon on Saturday, Oct. 24, regardless of what the weather does. If the courts are dry enough, the matches will be played at Sehome High School. If not, the tournament will shift to the indoor courts at the Bellingham Tennis Club (800 Mckenzie Ave.).

Sehome athletic director Colin Cushman, who is serving as tournament director, said a definite location will be determined at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Though four of the district's six berths to the state tournament already have been decided, a lot is still riding on Saturday's matches. Sehome's Will Topp and South Whidbey's Riley Newman will meet for the singles district title for the third straight year, while Sehome's Matt Goebel and Myles West will play in the district doubles final against Bellingham's Andrew Troutman and Kyle Buckham.

Sehome's Evan Madill will attempt to grab the district's final singles invitation to state in the third-place match against South Whidbey's Van Morgan, while Mariners teammates William Giller and Bjorn Thorpe will try to do the same in doubles in a third-place showdown with Lynden's Andrew Blair and Briley Benner.
