The Blaine girls' soccer team didn't have an answer for an aggressive Sedro-Woolley team, which came out on top of the Northwest Conference match with the 2-0 shutout on Thursday, Oct. 22.
After a scoreless first half, two second-half goals by Emily Bruscas in the 48th minute and Avery Blue in the 55th minute gave the Cubs the edge over the Borderites.
"It was a back and forth match, a really balanced game," Blaine coach Dan Steelquist said in a phone interview. "They were able to break through a few times and they have people who can shoot from a distance."
Blaine (5-7, NWC 4-7) closes out its season with a conference matchup against Mount Baker at 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26.
