PREP BOYS' CROSS COUNTRY: Mount Baker gets top 10 finish at North County Invite

Dillon Quintana's second-place finish in the freshman race helped the Mount Baker boys' cross country team to a 10th-place finish at the North County Invite at Cedarcrest Golf Course on Thursday, Oct. 15.

Quintana finished the 5,000-meter course in 17 minutes, 6.05 seconds - less than two seconds behind top-finishing freshman Carter Osborne of Shorecrest, which claimed the team title in the event.

The Mountaineers also got a top-10 finish from Connor Williams in the senior race, as he placed eighth with a time of 16:45.68. Jonathan Carlson (18:29.76) was 16th in the sophomore race, and Wes Finger (17:32.92) matched that mark in the senior race, while Matt Dunford (17:52.42) was 17th in the junior race.

Ferndale placed 11th, and was led by a third-place finish from Lee George (16:28.18) in the senior race and a fifth-place performance by Connor Jungkuntz (17:45.59) in the freshman race. Logan Jungkuntz (18:12.26) came in 12th in the freshman race, Isaac Robison (18:48.03) was 23rd in the sophomore race and Alex Scheck (18:49.98) was 28th in the junior race.

Sam Ryan's sixth-place run in the junior race in 17:06.19 led Meridian to a 13th-place finish. The Trojans also got an 18th-place finish from Paris Spiedel (18:56.36) in the freshman race, a 23rd-place run from Joel Wiebe (17:57.35) in the senior race and a 52nd-place performance from Justin Burgess (20:13.49) in the sophomore race.

Paulin Fleishman's ninth-place finish in the sophomore race in 18:15.67 led Lynden to 15th place overall. The Lions also got a 17th-place finish from Dusty Duncan (17:36.94) in the senior race, a 34th-place showing from Josh Doerksen (19:11.88) in the junior race and a 35th-place run from Jan Wolfisberg (20:03.60) in the freshman race.
