‘Little, or Not So Happily Ever After’

Gabe Mullen, a senior at Lynden Christian High School, presents his full-length, two-act musical based on the Grimm Brothers fairy tale of “Rumpelstiltskin,” at 7:30 p.m. today through Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. Saturday only at the school’s Worship & Fine Arts Center, 515 Drayton St. Tickets are $8 adults, $6 students.     Seven free events to enjoy in the week ahead:

    1. Western Washington University’s Collegium Musicum group performs at 8 p.m. Friday at WWU’s Performing Arts Center Concert Hall.

    2. Learn how textiles are made, from the farm to the final product, at a Mother’s Day Textile Festival on Saturday at Bellingham Farmers Market on Railroad Avenue between Chestnut and Maple streets.

    3. The Whatcom Association of Celestial Observers invites the public to view the sun safely, observe the moon and enjoy the night sky from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Boulevard Park.

    4. The North Sound Community Orchestra performs at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Kulshan Middle School, 1250 Kenoyer Drive.

    5. An exhibit of new paintings and drawings by Jennifer Eaton and Jason Williamson opens with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Smith and Vallee Gallery, 5742 Gilkey Ave., in Edison.

    6. Montreal-based journalist Taras Grescoe discusses her book “Bottomfeeder: How to Eat Ethically in a World of Vanishing Seafood” at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Elliott Bay Book Company, 101 S. Main St., in Seattle.

    7. Sheila Goldsmith, a veteran of San Francisco Bay Area’s Theatresports, offers “Learn to Think on Your Feet,” an introductory improv theater class for teens and adults, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mindport Exhibits, 210 W. Holly St.

‘The Man Who Fell Off His Bicycle’

IDiOM’s artistic director Glenn Apollo Hergenhahn presents some of his favorite original short plays at 8 tonight through Saturday, continuing May 15-17 at the iDiOM Theater, 1418 Cornwall Ave. Tickets are $5 for opening night, $10 for all other shows. ‘Brigadoon’

Big Rock Garden Party

Music of Remembrance

Paul Schoenfield’s work “Ghetto Songs,” based on the poetry of Polish troubadour Mordecai Getbirtig, who died in the Krakow ghetto, salon music by violinist Egon Ledec and Yiddish choral music are featured in this annual concert, taking place at 7:30 p.m. at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall, 200 University St. A free, pre-concert talk begins at 6:45 p.m. Tickets are $36, with discounts for seniors and youth.
