Employee Nora Hughes also recommends the gateau mocha, a rich chocolate cake with espresso buttercream. The average price for a slice is $4, with whole cakes ranging from $20 to $30.

The rich, fudgy cake is a crowd favorite that melts in your mouth, says employee Sasha Savoian. Mambo Italiano in Fairhaven serves up the cake for dessert with a crème anglaise to temper the unadulterated chocolate goodness. The cake is $4.25 per slice at the bakery, with whole cakes for $33.

The flourless chocolate cake has a molten center and is served with homemade whipped cream. Crack open the center and pour whipped cream in the middle for the perfect balance. The cake costs $5.95.
