Join Padilla Bay nature center aquarist Mark Olson for a free aquarium tour and fish feeding at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Breazeale Interpretive Center,10441 Bayview-Edison Road, in the coastal Skagit County village of Bay View.
Olsen will offer a behind-the-scenes view of the nature center's aquarium system, which highlights the area's fragile ecosystem of rocky shores and undersea eelgrass meadows. Participants might even see Notch, the large skate that hatched in the tank.
Breazeale Interpretive Center is part of the Padilla Bay National Estuarine Preserve and features aquariums and natural history exhibits focusing on the Salish Sea and nearby Padilla Bay.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Parking is free, and the center has clean restroom and several miles of trails, including beach access. Admission is free, but donations are accepted.
