Daniel Wood has the good fortune to play the title role in Mount Baker Theatre’s Repertory production of “The Nerd,” which opens Friday, Feb. 12, and plays through Feb. 28 at the theater’s intimate Walton Theatre.
His inaugural show in the Fourth Corner is appropriate because he’s the artistic director of his own theater company in Seattle, The Rogues Gallery, which he says is “dedicated to producing plays with geek themes.”
This show is “pure ridiculous, outrageous, zany fun,” Wood says.
Seattle’s Corey D. McDaniel directs the show; he’s also new to the Bellingham theater scene.
Never miss a local story.
It's got a bit of everything; romance, trouble, wisecracks, unexpected turns, and most of all, good old-fashioned fun.
Jennifer Ewing, actor
Jennifer Ewing, who plays Tansy McGinnis, is in her third consecutive year performing in the Winter Rep at MBT.
“It’s got a bit of everything; romance, trouble, wisecracks, unexpected turns, and most of all, good old-fashioned fun,” she says.
Megan Ahiers, who plays Clelia Waldgrave, says the characters are “just slight exaggerations of all those quirky people in our lives that we know and begrudgingly love.”
Zane Barrett, 11, plays Thor, who he describes as an “unruly 8-year-old.”
“All of the scenes are funny,” he says. “People show come to this show to laugh.”
