The inaugural Bellingham Irish Festival is Saturday, Oct. 3, at Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship, 1207 Ellsworth St. The Whatcom Family & Community Network joined with Cayley Schmid, organizer of the 2014 Bellingham Folk Festival, to host the event.
“This time around we are calling it the Bellingham Irish Festival and are pleased to be including some new instructors and workshops. In the evening there will be a concert to be enjoyed by musicians and music listeners alike,” she said.
The 2014 festival was attended by about 500 people, Schmid said. She recommends that workshop attendees be at least 8 years old, but the concert is open to all ages.
Participants include Brian O hAirt, Conor O'Bryan, Jesse Partridge, Peadar MacMahon, Erik Killops, Zach Bauman, Kelsey Wilson, Preston Howad, Sam Vogt, David Pender Lofgren, Norah McLaughlin, Jeff Lefferts, Richie Rosencrans, Clea Taylor, Paul Engelsburg, Sean Connors and Harper Stone.
Never miss a local story.
Oregon’s Na Rósaí will play music from their debut album, a mix of traditional Irish music, old-time Appalachian songs and French tunes, at 6:30 p.m.
Admission varies, Schmidt says, but concert tickets are $10 adults, $5 children.
