Organist and historic preservationist Dennis James has spent more than 40 years honing his craft as a solo film accompanist. He will recreate the score of “The General” on Mount Baker Theatre’s refurbished Wurlitzer organ at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 22, at the theater, 104 N. Commercial St.
“The General” is a 1927 action-adventure comedy starring Buster Keaton as a Confederate engineer racing to save the woman he loves, played by Marion Mack, and save his beloved locomotive, “The General,” from Union spies during the Civil War. The Mount Baker Theatre opened the same year.
Originally a box office disappointment, the film is now widely considered to be one of the greatest ever made.
Tickets, $10 to $22.50, are at 360-734-6080 and mountbakertheatre.com.
