With their newest album, “The Deepest Lake,” Dengue Fever expands their trademark psych/surf/Cambodian pop sound with African percussion, sweeping melodies and extended psychedelic jams.
They will play at 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at the Shakedown, 1212 N. State St. The Spider Ferns and Kurly Somthing open.
In 2013, after forming their own label, Tuk Tuk Records, the band crossed into a brave new world as both artist and record label owners. The band made decided to head into the studio to expand their sound, while following their instincts to explore jams that came out of demos recorded in their home studio where they produced the album themselves. The result is a sound that showcases their musically adventurous side while remaining faithful to the band’s otherworldly sound.
Cover is $10. More on the band at denguefevermusic.com.
