Canadian roots songwriter Sarah Jane Scouten and American singer-songwriter and strum-for-hire-string musician Jack Dwyer are pairing up for the first time on a winter 2014 US-CA Cascadian Tour. The new duo will play original country music and hand-picked old-time, bluegrass, honky-tonk and Cajun tunes at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at the Green Frog, 1015 N. State St.
Based in Portland, Ore., Dwyer plays in outfits such as The Scott Law Bluegrass Dimension and makes up half of the mandolin duo Mando Planet. He also is a crack songwriter, singer, guitarist, banjo player and old-time fiddler. More on him at jackdwyer.com
Scouten has been based in Montreal the past several years, but is generally nomadic out of taste and necessity. Her new record, “The Cape,” was nominated for two Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2014. More on her at sarahjanescouten.com.
