If you have never seen the bioluminescence that naturally occurs in the Salish Sea, then you are in for a treat.
People can join staff from the Community Boating Center at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at the center, 555 Harris Ave., on one the darkest evenings of the summer to view from the bay the amazing "Tinkerbell" displays put on by tiny phytoplankton.
The event is limited to 12 participants.
And at 5 p.m. that evening, the boating center hosts a flotilla of boats in south Bellingham Bay to bid adieu do the departing Alaska ferry.
