O'Connor to challenge Zimmerman for Ferndale Council seat

FERNDALE - Vinnie O'Connor has announced he will challenge interim City Councilman Lloyd Zimmerman for Ferndale's Position 6 seat.

O'Connor, 54, is the staff representative for the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, Washington state Council 2 office out of Bellingham and has lived in Ferndale for the last four years.

"I love Ferndale. As a single parent of three children with two in the high school, I believe I can make a positive difference," O'Connor said. "I have decided to run for City Council Seat 6 because I am tired of the monarchy way government is done in Ferndale. I believe government should be community based."

Zimmerman has already announced his intention to run for the spot. He was appointed to the council to fill the vacant seat when Gary Jensen was elected mayor.
