Chambers to seek Bellingham City Council seat

closeBELLINGHAM - Local community activist Catherine Chambers has announced she'll run for the City Council Ward 6 seat being vacated by Councilwoman Barbara Ryan.
The 55-year-old has worked as case manager/social worker at Catholic Community Services, Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services of Whatcom County, Whatcom Counseling and Psychiatric Clinic and more. She's also volunteered with Campfire USA and is active in the Whatcom County Democrats.
"We need to continue to support policies which strengthen living wage job development," said Chambers, a local resident for three decades. "Clean and safe drinking water is a Bellingham issue as well as a global issue."
Fairhaven neighborhood resident Michael Lilliquist is also vying for the seat.
