BELLINGHAM - Whatcom County Councilman Seth Fleetwood is aiming his sights at the soon-to-be-vacant Bellingham City Council at-large seat.

Fleetwood announced Friday, April 10, that he's ready for a change after eight years on the County Council working on growth and natural resources issues.

"I have worked for years on the county side of those issues and have gained insight in how to approach them on the city side," he said in a news release.

His announcement came the same day that City Councilwoman Louise Bjornson announced that she would not seek re-election to her at-large seat after 22 years on the job.

Fleetwood is 46-year-old lawyer and a Bellingham native who graduated from Sehome High School in 1981.
