Ken Mann is going to run for Whatcom County Council again.

The 39-year-old announced Wednesday, April 8, that he intends to seek the seat of Councilwoman Laurie Caskey-Schreiber, who has said she won't run in this fall's election.

Mann, who has been on the County Planning Commission since 2003, previously ran against and was defeated by Councilman Sam Crawford in 2007 during the county's first - and last - district-only general election. It was one of the closest incumbent challenges of the campaign season.

Mann said Wednesday that he already has $10,000 in campaign cash and both Bellingham Mayor Dan Pike and County Councilman Carl Weimer have already endorsed his candidacy.
