Collegium Musicum performance stunning, but audience scant
Sadly, I have to tell you what you missed: an absolutely stunning one-and-a-half-hour musical event, "The Birthday Cantata for Swedish King Gustav III," performed on May 11 at WWU's Performing Arts Center Concert Hall by Western's superb Collegium Musicum.

Rant: Medical workers should set standard for hygiene
I lived in Asia for many years and while in Hong Kong did a course at the British Council in teaching English. It was an eye opener for me that I was told "never to lick my fingers" to separate pages as Chinese students would not accept the page. I once forgot and that indeed happened.

Community celebrates planting of 1 millionth tree
Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association were among the more than 350 volunteers who joined the Whatcom Conservation District in celebrating its 1 millionth tree planted in Whatcom County since 1999 at an Earth Day work party April 21, 2013.
